On Thursday, February 13, State Senator Dallas Harris, representing District 11, paid a visit to our school in order to observe and collaborate with one of our awesome Teach For America (TFA) teachers Stephen Barney. Mr. Barney teaches 6th grade English. Welcome, Senator Harris!
On Friday, February 14, TFA LV Board Member and Air Force Veteran Wendell Blaylock, came to speak to Mr. Barney's 6th grade students about his father, Lieutenant Colonel Joseph Blaylock, who was a Tuskeegee Airman. Students were able to learn more about the prestigious history of the Tuskeegee Airman, and how his father overcame adversity to become an elite fighter pilot.
